um...why do you need a IC for just 8 psi?
Because intake temp on a JRSC @ 8psi without an IC can easily reach 180 + degrees F. That's just a little too hot.

I've seen as high as 220 when it gets hot out (and it get REALLY hot in Washington DC) My J&S goes berserk trying to deal with it. It also just totally kills the HP.

Ah.. 24 isn't bad. At leaset you can look forward to a nice auto insurance discount when you turn 25.
Adam,
Happy Birthday in advance !!! Mine is just nine days after yours... unfortunately, I will be a WEEE bit older than you. Can you say "THIRTY-FIVE" !!!
John,
No apology is necessary my friend. I feel for your situation... I know exactly how it feels. Dealing with debt is a constant battle... the wife and I fight it every month too.
I am a bit more understanding than most when it comes to production delays... I am in the business, so I know how hard it is to try and make a living and then find time to develop cutting-edge products. I have confidence in the premise of intercooling... and I think that your design has the same opportunity to be successful as any other... however, I feel that others are testing the waters in this arena that you have entered, and they seem to be making progress while you have apparently ground to a halt. I cannot wait for you to polish your creation and present it to the masses... and for your sake, I hope it is not too late once you do.
Stay in touch my friend... and let me know if I can help in ANY way.
Jim

The hondata was the solution to finally getting my car to running without ping in 100 degree weather (why screw with j+s and boost retard which was only killing power) it's worth every penny.

I dont see how you justify 1000+$ for stopping your cars "pinging", either remove timing, or add some fuel, or both, they are free adjustments. Removing timing, sure the car may be somewhat sluggish or less responsive under vacume, but how many times do you RACE under vacume? Your not going to FEEL the 5-8hp loss by backing your timing waaaay down, well, you might think you will, but no.
But in this world, theyre is a market for everything. Just think though, how many people you know on this board that DONT have a Hondata/or any standalone for that matter that is running an OE ecu with say 1 or 2 "band-aids"? One guy comes to mind REAL quick, then another, and another just had a motor go. Yea, his motor went after like 4 or so years of boost and he ACTUALLY raced his car at the strip and on road courses. Standalones+Under 300WHP=Dumb
Everybodys gotta do what they gotta do though.
Max PSI ---
I think you hit the nail right on the head, indirectly ! Items like the Hondata ARE necessary in order to get factory-like responsiveness through all RPM ranges. The only problem is of course, theyre expensive, maybe adding another 50% to the cost of any FI project, especially when (here it comes) the car doesnt come with FI from the factory ! How many people would take the plunge if they knew ahead of time that (surprise surprise) engine management was part of the total cost of ownership ?
The psychology of it all has been well-documented on this board -- I'm going to suggest it comes from an additional source besides the usual macho chest-thumping NEED MORE SPEED -- it comes from that little voice inside that says, "Hey this boost is kinda cool but I wish I had my off-idle response and my emmissions and my mileage back". My old car was just about as well-tuned as possible, but would still ping like a mofo on stupid hot days we had last summer, and I'm thankful I had the J&S "safeguarding" me.

that has to suck....220*
Why does it go so hot? does the blower suck or what?
The reason it gets so hot is the fact that there is NO intercooler on the kit to cool the intake charge at all!
